It's also quite small with a nice clip and a proper clicky. The D25C will do ~750 lumens on max with an RCR123 (although you loose medium mode on a rechargeable). Check out the titanium Eagletac Clickies. Both lights are going to be extremely warm on high and titanium isn't as good a thermal conductor as aluminum so in both cases you run the risk of damaging the light with improper use in the wrong conditions.Īs for alternatives, lathesand gave you a good one. That's up to you to decide which you like better.Īs for the warning to not run the Sunwayman for more than 5 minutes on max, that's simply a matter of them electing to include that warning whereas Jetbeam didn't. When buying an expensive titanium light like this, the aesthetic plays a big part in it. Those are about all the objective things I can think of. High/Low - The Jetbeam tests slightly better on high (about 30 lumens brighter) but perhaps more importantly, it has the lowest low I know of at. For an EDC this isn't a problem, but in any kind of back-up/emergency situation it is a liability. It will take a long time, but this will eventually drain your battery. Standby current - The Jetbeam uses an electronic/magnetic switch, meaning it must constantly use a very small amount of current to be able to activate at any time. For me, smaller doesn't necessarily mean better as it can be important to have some nice purchase on the light with your hand while using it, but in general smaller is considered better. Size - Despite having a larger battey compartment, the Jetbeam is smaller. With the Sunwayman, you will be able to pick your output first, then use the clicky to turn the light on at that output level. You can operate the Jetbeam completely with one hand, but you have to start at low every time you turn the light on.

Some will gripe that you can't activate the light in the underhand grip (which you will presumably use to adjust the output with the control ring). Switch/Control - Some will view the clicky on the Sunwayman to be a plus. And, if someone does make a decent protected LiCoO2 18350, you'll be able to use it. Since the 18350s only come as IMR cells, you don't get any extra capacity but they do handle the higher amperage better. That means you can run either a primary, an RCR123 (16340) or an 18350. (+1 Sunwayman)īattery options - The Jetbeam will accept an 18mm cell. In a light this size with an XM-L, you're not going to have a throw champion on your hands so I don't know if it's worth it to have a ringy beam that tends to come with smooth reflectors. (+1 JetBeam)īeam profile - You've got a smooth reflector in the Jetbeam and an orange peel reflector in the Sunwayman. You might want to read up and see what the opinions of the tint are. I believe there have been subsequent tint bins released but it's not worth the bad tint if you're not driving the XM-L hard enough to get the extra lumens out of the U2 flux bin. Tint - The fist batch of XM-L U2s to hit the market had an angry blue tint. You've got a couple things to consider here. What do you guys think? Any other recommendations if not these two? Thanks!!

I've looked at side by side comparisons and both seem to be excellent fit/finish. Spec wise, the Sunwayman says not to run the light at max brightness for more than 5 minutes - while the Jetbeam has no such warning. So price wise, they seem around the same. *Turbo Mode: 500 Lumens (uses one 16340 battery to drive Do not run the light continuously at turbo mode for more than 5 minutes.) *Max: 190 Lumens (1.5hrs) *Min: 1 Lumen (35hrs) *Constant current circuit, constant output *Effective range of 130 meters *Uses one single CR123A (RCR123A/16340) battery *Working voltage: 0.9~4.2V *High quality OP reflector maintains great throw distance and spread with an ideal beam pattern *Dimensions: 84.5mm (length) x 23mm (head diameter) *Weight: 71.8g(battery excluded) Price $160 Sunwayman V10R-Ti+ Specs *CREE XM-L U2 LED, with a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours *Digital Sensor Magnetic Control system, Infinite Variable Output Switch- slightly twist the Rotator Ring from left to right for Min to Max output.
